First Interview Tips

If you’ve learned everything you need to know about interviewing for a new job watching Directv you may have a few lessons to go. If you’ve gotten this far take our advice and never do any of the following on your preliminary job interview.
Be Late: Obviously. But don’t be too early, either. Aim to get to the lobby about 10-15 minutes but no more before your interview starts.
Wear Anything Crazy: This includes tons of flashy jewelry or scented perfume and it certainly pertains to your wardrobe, too. Keep it simple and professional and always err on the side of conservative if you’ve got a question.
Ask About Salary: It’s the first interview, don’t ask the employer about salary or anything else that may imply you want the job for the wrong reasons. Save the vacation and money talks for a few rounds later in the process.
Leave Without Getting a Deadline: Make sure the employer tells you when they’ll be in touch and if they don’t, throw out a date. It’s better to know something by a specific date than be left hanging for weeks at a time.
